I visited Sky Harbor on Friday, December 21, 2019 to photograph the arrival of an Atlas Air Boeing 747-400 and an Atlas Air Boeing 767-200. I also caught a Boutique Air Pilatus PC-12 andd a Southwest 737-700. I returned to Sky Harbor later in the day to photograph the arrival of a Kalitta Air 747-400BCF and the departure of the Atlas Air 747-400. I also caught a couple of American 757-200s and an Emberaer EMB-135LR.

Boeing 787-8 N787BX was the first 787 to visit Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It arrived from Mexico City on Friday, March 9, 2012 and departed for San Diego on Monday, March 12, 2012. On February 23, 2015 American Boeing 787-823 N800AN started flying route proving flights to St Louis, Chicago O'Hare, and Phoenix Sky Harbor. American Boeing 787-823 N801AC started flying route proving flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor in March 2015. United Boeing 787-9 N27959 and All Nippon Airways Boeing 787-9 JA837A have flown baseball team charters to Phoenix Sky Harbor. American Airlines and British Airways currently fly Boeing 787s to Phoenix Sky Harbor on a daily basis.

British Airways temproarily concluded 747 service to Sky Harbor on October 26, 2019. They will be switching to 787s on October 27. Airliners flying regularly scheduled flights to Phoenix all have two engines, for now. British Airways Boeing 747 service to Sky Harbor will resume in March 2020.

American Airlines has initiated Boeing 777 service to Phoenix Sky Harbor. American Flight 195 from London was served by 777-223 N770AN on April 1.

He departed from Phoenix Sky Harbo aboard a VC-32A because the runway at his destination, Elko, Nevada is too shart for the VC-25A. VC-25A 92-9000 departed a short while after Trump's flight.

Asia Pacific Airines' 727 was scheduled to arrive at Sky Harobr from Kansas City soon after, but it was delayed until midnight. I visited Sky Harbor in the afternoon of July 1, 2018 to photograph the departure of Asia Pacific Airines' 727 for Honolulu. It was scheduled to take-off at 2:00. I waited at the airport for four hours before heading home. It changed its destination to Los Angeles and took off at 6:30. It was almost to San Bernardino when it diverted back to Phoenix. On July 2, it filed a flight plan to return to Kansas City, scheduled to depart at 9:00 AM. I waited in the heat until it took off at 10:11 and finally got my pictures of it.

I visited Sky Harbor on the morning of June 9, 2018 to photograph the take-off of a Fedex Express Boeing 777-200LR/F freighter. The wing span of the 777-200LR is 12 feet 8 inches longer than the standard 777-200. It iw equipped with 115,000 pound thrust engines instead of 77,200 pound thrust engines. Its maximum take-off weight is 221-800 pounds greater. Its range is 3,315 nautical miles greater.
I visited Sky Harbor to photograph the take-off of Honeywell's 757 engine testbed with a Honeywell TFE731-5BR turbofan engine on the test pylon. I also caught Frontier's Dakota and Cody, The Coyotes.
Southwest's Louisiana One 737 took off at 8:15 on the morning of May 25. This time of year the morning sum shines on the north side of the airplanes taking off, so I photographed the take-off from the top deck of the terminal 4 parking structure. I returned to Sky Harbor in the afternoon and phtographed American's PSA heritage and TWA heritage, Southwest's Lone Star One, a Condor 767, a British Airways 747, and an Air Transport International 767.
Honeywell's Convair 580 N580HW made a round rtip flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor to Albuquqerque on May 22, 2018. A parade of Canadair Regional Jets preceded its arrival. In the late afternoon, I returned to the airport to photograph Southwest's Louisiana One 737.
Condor Airlines began service between Frankfurt and Phoenix on Friday, May 18, 2018. I visited Sky Harbor in the late afternoon on May 21, 2018 to photograph a Condor 767 and British Airways 747 that arrived twelve minutes apart.
I visited Sky Harbor in the late afternoon on May 15, 2018 to photograph a Mexican Convair 640 freighter. I also caught a variety of other freighters. I visited Sky Harbor on May 16, 2018 to photograph Alaska Airlines' Salmon-thirty-Salmon II. The pattern was reversed as I drove to the airport for the landing, so I had to return and photograph the take-off. I also photographed several 737s and Airbuses. I returned to the airport later in the afternoon to photograph the Mexican Convair 640 freighter again. I visited Sky Harbor on May 17, 2018 to photograph United's Eco Skies. I also caught an Airbus and some 737s.

On November 22, 2016, Asia Pacific Airlines Boeing 727-223F N705AA visited Phoenix Sky Harbor on November 22, 2016. It arrived from Opa Locka, Florida at 1:40 in the afternoon. It departed for Honolulu at 3:27 PM.
Delta Airbus A330-323 N807NW Delta Flight 1772 from Atlanta to Phoenix was flown by Airbus A330-323 N807NW on November 7, 2016. DAL1772 is normally flown by a 757. The day before, it was flown by a 777. On November 8, it will be flown by a 737. This is the first A330 that I have seen at Sky Harbor.
Delta Boeing 777-232LR N701DN arrived at Sky Harbor as Delta Flight 1772 from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport on November 6, 2016. 777s are not often seen at Sky Harbor.

I spent some time on the mornings of December 22 and 24, 2014 on the south bank of the Salt River watching the air traffic at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. American has been painting their new livery on former US Airways airliners. Southwest has started to apply its new livery to its 737s. Split scimitar winglets are being installed on 737s.

The solar-powered Solar Impulse departed from Phoenix at 4:47 AM on Wednesday, May 22. It is is scheduled to arrive in Dallas, Texas at 1:00 AM on Thursday.
The solar-powered Solar Impulse flew from San Francisco to Phoenix on Friday, May 3, 2013 on the first leg of its flight across the United States. It was placed on public display during its visit to Sky Harbor International Airport.

While I waited for the arrivals and departures of the baseball charters at Sky Harbor, I photographed the comings an d goings of other airliners. The bulk of air traffic at Sky Harbor is single aisle, twin-engine airliners.
A pair of charter airliners came to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to take the Seattle Mariners and Oakland As baseball teams to Japan for exhibition games an March 22. 777-246ER JA705J Japan Airlines Flight JAL8808 broght the Mariners back to Sky Harbor on March 30. It returned to Narita, Japan as Flight JAL8007 later in the day.

Boeing 787-8 N787BX was the first 787 to visit Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It arrived from Mexico City on Friday, March 9 and departed for San Diego on Monday, March 12.
Christmas season brings a variety of air freighters that are not often seen at Phoenix Sky Harbor. The pictures below were taken on the mornings of December 22 and 23, 2011.
Most of the air traffic at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is single aisle twinjets of US Airways and Southwest Airlines. The only regularly scheduled 747 service to Phoenix Sky Harbor is British Airways 747-436 Flight 289 from London Heathrow. A few large freighters arrive each afternoon. For a few weeks around the Summer Solstice the afternoon sun shines from the north side of the runways.

On Thursday, December 27 a flight plan was filed for Honeywell Boeing 720 N720H to fly from Williams-Gateway to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It actually departed from Phoenix and activated its flight plan over Williams-Gateway. It was scheduled to depart at 9:50 AM MST and to return at 1:20 PM MST. I parked on the top of the Terminal 4 parking structure at 1:00 PM to wait for its return. As I waited, I photographed a number of the flights taking off and landing on Runway 26.
On Thursday, April 13, I parked on the south bank of the Salt River at the end of 40th Street to photograph the departures from Runway 07L at Sky Harbor International Airport until airport security called the local police to roust me.
On Wednesday, April 12, I stopped off at the terminal 2 parking garage at Sky Harbor to get some pictures of the right side of Honeywell's Boeing 720-051B, N720H engine testbed in the afternoon sun.
On Tuesday, April 11, I checked out several photography locations at Sky Harbor International Airport.
On Friday, April 7, I spent some time on the south bank of the Salt River at the end of 40th Street taking pictures of the airplanes at Sky Harbor International Airport.
In the early 1970s, Western Airlines, American, and TWA were among the primary air carriers to service Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. The Arizona Air Naitonal Guard flew Boeing C-97 Stratofreighters and KC-97 Stratotankers from a base on the south side of the airport.
