The sixth C-5A, 67-0167 makes a pass over the Edwards Air Force Base Open House Display on May 19, 1970. Galaxies were originally painted white over gull gray (FS 16473) with a blue cheat line. The nose radome was black. Photographer Richard Lockett.
Demonstration of refueling C-5A Galaxy 67-0167 by a Boeing KC-135A Stratotanker at the Edwards Air Force Base Open House Display on May 16, 1973. A Lockheed T-33 flies off the wing of the Galaxy to provide scale. C-5A Galaxy 67-0167 was retired to AMARC on January 6, 2005 as CM0010. It was scrapped at AMARC in Septamber 2012 by New Phoenix Metals.
C-5A 66-8306 at Edwards AFB on September 20, 1981. It was retired to AMARC on Feb 18, 2004 as CM0003. It was transferred to Lackland AFB Apr 14, 2011 for instructional use. Parts of this plane are now being used as a cargo load trainer at Lackland AFB, TX.

The rear cargo loading doors are also open. The landing gear have been retracted to bring the cargo floor to the same height as a standard truck bed.
C-5A 69-001 on static display at the Vandenberg Air Force Base Airshow on November 14, 1984. In the middle of the eighties, the Galaxy fleet was repainted in European-1 camouflage. The upper surfaces were painted with gray (FS 36118) and two shades of green (FS 34102 and FS 34092). As the camouflaged Galaxies entered the fleet, green nose radomes found their way onto some of the "white top" Galaxies.
The third C-5A, 66-8305 on static display at the Edwards Air Force Base Open House Display on November 9, 1986. The upper surfaces of the wing of this white top Galaxy have acquired the gray/green European-1 camouflage. The entire fleet of C-5A Galaxies had their wing boxes replaced when it as discovered that the original design had a much shorter life than had been predicted. The new wing boxes were painted with the European-1 camouflage in anticipation of the repainting of the rest of the airplanes.
