I went to Sky Harbor on December 30 to photograph the arival of Alaska's Spirit of the Islands 737. I also caught a Delta A330.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 28 to photograph the departure of American's Astrojet heritage 737. I also caught a DHL 767 freighter and a variety of single aisle airliners.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 27 to photograph the departure of one of United's Continental heritage 737s. I also caught a couple of UPS heavy freighters and the Arizona Coyotes 757 team plane.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 24 to photograph the arrival of an American Airbus A330 and Southwest's Illinois One.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 22 to photograph a couple of American Airbus A330s and Southwest's Lone Star One. I also happened to catch a US Marshalls Service 737 and some heavy freighters.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 21 to photograph a UPS Airbus A300 and an Atlas Air Boeing 747.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 20 to photograph an Atlas Air Boeing 747 and an American Airbus A330. A330s have not been a common sight at Sky Harbor, but American has started using them for daily flights to Honolulu and Charlotte. I happened to catch a Sierra Pacific classic 737 and a Fairchild RC-26B Metro equipped for surveillance.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 18 to photograph an Atlas Air Boeing 747 and an American Airbus A330. A330s have not been a common sight at Sky Harbor, but American has started using them for daily flights to Honolulu and Charlotte.

I went to Sky Harbor on December 15 to photograph early morning freighter departures. Heavy freighters included McDonnell-Douglas MD-11Fs, Boeing 757s, Boeing 767s, Airbus A300, and Boeing 737. Smaller package freighters included Fairchild Metros, Beech C-99 Commuters, Beech 1900s, Cessna 208 Caravans, and an Embraer Brasilia. A U.S. Navy Boeing E-6B Mercury was parked in the western freight area.

On November 22, 2016, Asia Pacific Airlines Boeing 727-223F N705AA visited Phoenix Sky Harbor on November 22, 2016. It arrived from Opa Locka, Florida at 1:40 in the afternoon. It departed for Honolulu at 3:27 PM.

Novelty Airline Liveries |
My pictures of novelty airline liveries have been reorganized. Each airline has its own display with all pictures of each airplane grouped together.
Alaska Airlines operates several 737s with special liveries.
American Airlines operates 737s and A319s in liveries that comemorate airlines that have been merged into American. some of their airplanes were formerly operated in special liveries by American West and US Airways.
America West operated several Boeing 757s in special liveries. They were later transferred to US Airways and then American Airlines.
Southwest Airlines operates several 737s painted to commemorate state flags.
United Airlines operates an A320 in vintage Friend Ship livery, a 737 in vintage Continental Airlines livery, and a 737 that promotes the March of Dimes.
WestJet operates two 737s that advertise Walt Disney World.
Airlines from all over the world have airliners painted in novelty liveries.

I went to the airport on October 27, 2017 to photograph Alaska Airlines More to Love special livery. While I waited, several light freighters departed from Runway 07 Right.

Southwest brings a few 737-8 Max flights into Phoenix each day. The Diamondbacks baseball team chartered a United Airlines Boeing 757-9 to bring them home from the playoffs in Los Angeles.

Ilyushin Il-76 at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway

On August 27, 2017, Volga-Dnepr Ilyushin Il-76 RA76951 departed from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. The prototype Cessna Citation Longitude took off on a test flight. A flight of Marine Corps McDonnell-Douglas AV-8B Harriers departed. The air temperature was 109 degrees F.

Boeing VC-25A (747-2G4B) 92-9000 Air Force One and Boeing VC-32A (757-2G4) 99-0004 Air Force Two visited the Valley of the Sun on Tuesday, August 22, 2017.

On August 21, 2017, the Moon passed between the Earth and the Sun. From Scottsdale, the Moon covered about two thirds of the Sun's disk at the maximum of the eclipse.

The Commemorative Air Force Boeing B-29 Superfortress N529B Fifi arrived at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport on April 12. It has been carrying passengers on revenue generating flights. I photographed it on April 15.
EAA Ford 5-AT Tri-Motor at Goodyear
|
The Experimental Aircraft Association brought their Ford 5-AT Tri-Motor to the Goodyear Airport to make revenue flights from March 23 to March 26. While I visited the airport on March 26, a replica Waco YMF departed and a Boeing C-17A landed o pick up a group of Air Force parachutists.
