The
landing gear on this Boeing B-52H
Stratofortress, serial 60-0050, has just started to retract. Note
how the left gear struts retract forward and the right gear
struts retract backward. Visit the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress

as N9MB, the flying scale model of the XB-35 Flying Wing Bomber. Photographer: Brian Lockett.
The N9M-B
Flying Wing taxis past a pair of F-117 Full Scale Development
(FSD) prototypes, serials 79-01782 and 79-01783. These early
model stealth fighters lack some of the radar defeating
refinements of the production models. The cockpit canopies lack
the serrated edges of the F-117A. Note the small tail wheel on
the N9M-B for the protection of the pusher propellors. Photographer: Brian Lockett.
Boeing-Rockwell B-1B Lancer shows off two of its three
bomb-bays. This example is based at Edwards AFB. Six Lancers have
recently been dispatched to the Middle East. Perhaps they will
soon see their first use in combat. Visit the Boeing B-1B Lancer

the strakes on Test Pilot School F-16B
Fighting Falcon, serial 80-635, while smoke streams from the
wingtips in a high-G turn. Visit the Lockheed-Martin F-16 Fighting

Lockheed-Martin F-16C Fighting
Falcon, serial 88-445, is in position to receive fuel from Boeing KC-135R
Stratotanker, serial 61-0320. The R-model Stratotanker has been
re-engined with high-bypass General Electric/SNECMA CFM-56
turbofans which significantly increase the amount of fuel that
can be off-loaded by the tanker. Visit the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker

The size
difference between Lockheed-Martin F-16C Fighting Falcon,
88-445, and Boeing-McDonnell-Douglas F-15D Eagle serial 82-046,
is evident in this shot..

Rockwell CT-39 Sabreliner, serial 59-2870, and the
Lockheed-Martin C-141B Starlifter, serial 66-0167. Photographer: Brian Lockett.
F-15D 82-046, F-15B 76-130, F-16B 80-635, and F-16C 88-445 take
part in the mass fly-by. Photographer: Brian Lockett.

FSD Nighthawks accompany a U-2S equipped with megapods. Photographer: Brian Lockett.
The engine inlets of this U-2S have been enlarged to provide the
increased airflow needed by the 19,000 pound thrust General
Electric F118-GE-101 turbofan that replaced the 17,000 pound
thrust Pratt & Whitney J75-P-13B engine with which it was
originally equipped. Thirty three U-2Rs were converted to the
U-2S standard. Photographer: Brian

Crusader, N19TB, has a variable incidence wing to increase
lift at low airspeeds reducing the need for the pilots to pitch
the nose of the fighter up on approach to landing on aircraft
carriers. Photographer: Brian Lockett.
