Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 "Zero", N58245 was built by Nakajima in October 1942. The hulk was recovered from Balalle Island in the Solomons in 1969 and restored by Bob Diemert of Carman, Manitoba, Canada using parts of several wrecks. That may help explain why its construction ID is variously reported as 807, 842, 5356, and 5358 and its type as A6M2-21 or A6M5-52. It first flew after rebuild on August 12, 1985.
It is reported that the attempt to restore Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 "Zero", N58245 to airworthy condition has been abandoned due to airframe corrosion. It will be restored as a static display.
