The Commemorative Air Force B-17G, Sentimental Journey is visiting southern California. She flew to Fox Field near Lancaster on May 3. Following the 60th Anniversary of VE-Day on Sunday May 8, Sentimental Journey will fly to Visalia on May 9.

Sentimental Journey took off westbound as I was still eastbound on Avenue G at 10:30 in the morning on Friday, May 6.
Sentimental Journey still carries its original Army Air Force serial number, 44-83514. She was retired from the Air Force in January 1959. In the sixties, she flew for Aero Union Corporation of Chico, California as tanker #E17. She is currently registered to the American Airpower Heritage Flying Museum of Midland, Texas and is operated by the Arizona Wing of the Commemortive Air Force at Falcon Field near Mesa, Arizona.

Boeing B-17G Flying Fortresses were used to fight fires unitl the 1980s. Subsequently, the tankers were restored to stock configuration. The restored Flying Fortresses tour the country, taking aviation enthusiasts aloft on nostalgia flights.
