Stout Bushmaster flight at Camarillo, August 25, 2001 |
On Saturday, August 25, 2001, I took a ride in the Stout Bushmaster operated by Tri-Motor Air Tours. The Bushmaster is based on the design of the Ford Tri-Motor. These are frames from the video that I shot of our Bushmaster flight. (click on any picture to see a larger version)
The cabin of the Bushmaster is taller than the original Ford.

The Bushmaster turned back toward the airport and flew along the coast just a couple of thousand feet up.
We flew over the airport and got a good view of the airplanes at the fly-in.
We could see our shadow slowly moving across the ground.
We passed over the recently grounded EC-121T on the approach to the runway.
We taxied in past the warbirds being prepared for the flying demonstrations.
The Bushmaster continued to make nostalgia flights until the airport closed for the flying displays.
A Pitts Special accompanied the Bushmaster when it took off with a load of parachutists for the opening of the flying displays. The Pitts flew circles around the descending parachutists.
The Bushmaster resumed flying when the flying displays were concluded.
Despite appearances, this airplane is just fifteen years old.
