Santa Maria Thunder Over the Valley

The Santa Maria Airport and the Santa Maria Museum of Flight hosted the annual Thunder Over the Valley show over the weekend of August 25 - 26. In addition to a variety of warbirds and trainers, there were several military helicopters and McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18 Hornets from the U.S. Marine Corps and the Canadian Air Force.
Canadian Car & Foundry Harvard Mk. IV N459JP was built in 1952. Its construction number is CCF4-250. It served the Royal canadian Air Force as 20459. James Powers of San jose, California gave it its current registration on February 22, 1989.
North American T-28A Trojan, N81643 served the Air Force as 49-1643. Its construction number is 159-155. Norman B. Dennis Jr. of Brookneal, California registered it as N9674C in 1966. Robert Eggmann of Belleville, Illinois registered it as N28RE in 1978. Edward A. Buerckholtz of Chesterfield, Missouri registered it as N81643 in 1985. It has been registered to Round Power Limited of Reno, Nevada since March 4, 2004. It is restored in the colors of a T-28A that was flown by the Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base in the 1950s. It is based at the Santa Barbara Airport.
North American T-28B Trojan, N306WW was built in 1955. It served the U.S. Navy as BuNo 138306. Its construction number is 200-377. World Wide Aeronautical Industries of Moorpark, California gave it its current registration in December 1989. It has been registered to Gary Koverman of Mill Valley, California since September 17, 2004.
North American T-28A Trojan N28FL was built in 1955. It served the U.S. Navy as BuNo 138292. Lincoln A. Dexter of Fort Myers, Florida registered it as N28FL in October 1985 and sold it to Austin J. Gibbons of Elgin, Illinois in 1988. It has been registered to Tom McGee of Napa, California since 2002.
North American T-28A Trojan N51705 served the U.S. Air Force as 51-3705. The Palo Alto Unified School Dsitrict in Palo Alto, California registered it as N74193 in 1978. Stephen R. Scott of Foster City, California acquired it in August 1978 and registered it as N3705D. It was registered as N83705 in 1983. It received its current registration in October 2002. It appears that it may have had its R-1300 radial anegine replaced with an R-1820.
North American SNJ-6 Texan, N349JB served the U.S. Navy as BuNo 112247, but it is restored as U. S. Air Force T-6G, 49-3319. It has been registered to James Bergman Of Las Vegas, Nevada since September 5, 2001.
North American AT-6D Texan, N3326G was ordered by the Army Air Corps as AT-6D 42-84177, but it was delivered to the U.S. Navy as SNJ-5 BuNo 43846 in 1943. It has been registered to Aubrey King of Salinas, California since October 5, 1970.
North American AT-6C Texan, N7055H carries construction number 88-12150. It has been registered to Richard Fields of Fullerton, California since August 31, 1990.

North American P-51D Mustang, NL51PT Petie III was delivered to the Army Air Corps as 44-72145. Its construction number is 122-38604. It entered the civil registry as N6169C. John C. Seidel of Sugar Grove, Illinois registered it as N311G in 1963. Waldo Klabo of Pleasanton, California acquired it in 1978 and flew it as Race #85 Fat Cat. Don Whittington of Fort Lauderdale, Florida acquired it in 1984 and sold it to Peter McManus of Fort Lauderdale soon afterward. Peter McManus and Castlewood Realty of Miami, Florida registered it as N51PT in January 1985 and restored it as Petie 3rd. Castlewood Airmotive of Baltimore, Maryland bought it on August 29, 1986, It has been registered to Jeff Pryor of Santa Barbara, California since March 11, 2005.

Beechcraft A45 (T-34B) Mentor N111VN was built in 1962. Its construction number is G-815. It has been registered to DT34A LLC of livermore, California since Monday.
