A number of airlines use novelty paint schemes on their airplanes to attract extra attention. Photos taken at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Dcember 22 and 24, 2014 have been added to the Novelty Airline Liveries display.

I spent some time on the mornings of December 22 and 24, 2014 on the south bank of the Salt River watching the air traffic at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. American has been painting their new livery on former US Airways airliners. Southwest has started to apply its new livery to its 737s. Split scimitar winglets are being installed on 737s.

On my journey to and from the Saline Valley, I stopped by the Southern California Logistics Airport to photograph the stored airliners. I stayed the night at the Mariah Country Inn adjacent to the Convair 990 gate guard at the Mojave Airport.

I arrived at Palm Spring Camp in the Saline Valley with friends on Monday, November 17 at sunset. We set up camp and stayed until Friday, November 21.

On Monday, November 17, I drove up to the ghost town of Cerro Gordo at the crest of the Inyo Mountains with friends. We drove to the town of Keeler on the edge of Owens Dry Lake, and turned up the dirt road leading to Cerro Gordo. When we arrived at the ghost town, Robert, the local caretaker, drove out on his quad and greeted us. He treated us to a tour of the town, opening up all the buildings and the museum, which houses a collection of artifacts from the heyday of the mining industry.

On Sunday, November 16, I toured the Panamint Valley with friends. We stopped in Trona for lunch at Esparza Family Restaurant. We visited the ghost town of Ballarat and continued up the Indian Ranch Road on the east side of the Panamint Valley. We surveyed the valley from the Father Crowley Viewpoint.

I camped out in the Saline Valley photographing airplanes in the wild in November. Camp was buzzed by several Boeing F/A-18 Hornets, McDonnell-Douglas F-15s, and Lockheed Martin KC-130Js.

On October 23, 2014, I toured the Mogollon Rim near Payson, Arizona to photograph the fall colors. I followed the Rim Road and other forest roads from Woods Canyon Lake to Highway 87 north of Strawberry. The weather was sunny and warm.

A major storm brought heavy rainfall and gale force winds to the Valley of the Sun on Saturday, September 27. Many trees have toppled and streets and parks are flooded.

On September 25, I drvoe through the town of Cherry to Mingus Mountain, overlooking the Verde Valley. The town of Cottonwood was directly below and the red rocks cliffs of Sedona could be seen an the far side of the valley as thunderheads built up in the distance.

The full Moon slipped through the Earth's shadow during the night of April 14 - 15, 2014.

Forest Houses is a compound of cabins ini Oak Creek Canyon. Each cabin is different. My sister has been renting cabins at Forest Houses for many years. I joined her for a few days at Chalet, on the bank of Oak Creek.

The Commemorative Air Force's Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey N9323Z made revenue flights from the Sedona Airport on the morning of Monday, March 31, 2014.

Luke Days Open House and Airshow will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014. Some of the airplanes that will perform or appear on static display arrived on Thursday, March 13.

Lockheed-Martin F-35A Lightning 2 11-5030 was delivered to the 56th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base on March 10, 2014. It made two circuits of the pattern and then landed.

Airplanes started arriving for the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport hosted Aviation Day on March 7, 2014. A variety of military aircraft stopped by the airport for gas-n-go..

The Parada del Sol is an annual parade through Scottsdale. It ia a showcase for a wide variety of horses. It also features vintage cars, firetrucks, and some notable local celebrities.

I acquired a digital8 video camcorder in 1999. I finally transferred the tapes to a hard drive so that they could be properly formatted for presentation and uploaded the videos to YouTube. I have embedded them on the relevent displays of this web site.

I added nearly four hours of videos to my Antarctic Cruise displays.

The Sonoran Desert National Monument encompasses 487,000 acres southwest of Phoenix. Much of the monument is wilderness with no motorized access. Route 8001 skirts the north edge of the North Maricopa Mountains Wilderness. It can be accessed from Highway 85 at Woods Road, about 21 miles south of I-17. There is no sign for the monument at the highway. It follows a narrow valley between rugged mountains of the North Maricopa Range. Saguaros and Creosote are the predominant plants. Mesquite and Palo Verde Trees grow along numerous dry washes.
